IITian baba Abhay Singh
Aerospace engineer-turned-Sadhu, Abhay Singh, popularly known as ‘IITian Baba’, was expelled from the Juna Akhara late Saturday night. The decision came after allegations that he had used abusive language against his guru, Mahant Someshwar Puri.
This marks yet another controversy surrounding IITian Baba, who has been a polarizing figure within spiritual circles.
The Juna Akhara has officially banned Abhay Singh, the former IIT-Mumbai graduate turned sanyasi, from entering its camp and premises. Akhara officials emphasized that discipline and respect for one’s guru are fundamental values in sanyas, and violating them is unacceptable.
Abhay Singh, widely known as ‘IITian Baba,’ gained social media fame during Mahakumbh 2025 for applying scientific principles to resolve human conflicts—a unique approach that attracted a steady stream of visitors to his camp. However, tensions escalated after a reported clash with his guru, Mahant Someshwar Puri, leading to his expulsion.
Despite being expelled, he sought refuge in another sadhu’s camp, further intensifying the controversy.
In a video statement, IITian Baba denied voluntarily leaving the Mela, claiming he was driven out and falsely accused. He alleged that his guru was displeased with the attention he was receiving from the public. He also revealed that he had severed ties with his parents, stating that he had blocked their numbers long ago.
