11 सितंबर 1973 की रात बाबा अपने वृंदावन स्थित आश्रम में थे. अचानक उनकी तबीयत खराब होने लगी. उन्हें तुरंत अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया. जहां डॉक्टरों ने उन्हें ऑक्सीजन मास्क लगाया लेकिन बाबा ने इसे लगाने से मना कर दिया. उन्होंने वहां मौजूद भक्तों से कहा अब मेरे जाने का समय आ गया है. उन्होंने तुलसी और गंगाजल को ग्रहण कर रात के करीब 1:15 पर अपना शरीर त्याग दिया. हालांकि उनकी मृत्यु का कारण मधुमेह कोमा बताया जाता है.

Neem Karoli Baba was born around 1900 in Akbarpur village of Uttar Pradesh. It is said that he attained enlightenment there at the age of 17. He left home and devoted his life to Hanuman devotion. Kainchi Dham of Baba Neem Karoli is at a distance of 07 km from Bhuwali in Nainital. An annual function is celebrated here every year on 15th June. A huge crowd of Baba’s devotees gather on that day.
